Is an EICR a legal requirement for landlords?+

Yes. Since June 2020, all private landlords in England must have an EICR every 5 years. Fines up to £30,000 for non-compliance.

When do I need to give the certificate to my tenant?+

You must provide a copy to existing tenants within 28 days and to new tenants before they move in.

What happens if the EICR identifies issues?+

Remedial works must be completed within 28 days (or the timeframe in the report). We carry out all remedial works.
